Originally a ground floor kitchen at the base of an open tower the atrium was designed to be the main route to connect the four levels of the house and roof terrace. As a cost effective alternative to a previous more expensive design, the minimalist folded steel stairs and glazed landings contrast with the richly textured stone walls that in the evening are highlighted by up-lights set into the polished stone clad ground floor.
