Peckham, London, SE15

Built in the early-mid part of the nineteenth century, this tired, old, but characterful four storey terrace house required a total refurbishment. Due to age and general wear and tear all floor, roof and ceiling structures had to be carefully removed as well as all wall coverings, exposing the bare masonry. The design intent was to maintain the scale and generous proportions of the original space. In the reconstruction, new rooms were added which included three guestrooms and a master bedroom with ensuites and dressing room on the two upper floors. On the ground floor level are two adjoining reception rooms with large sliding doors opening onto the hallway, increasing the general flow and perception of spaciousness. A new single storey rear extension was added to the lower ground floor level, creating a large kitchen and dinning area, there is also an office to the front of the house. The load bearing structural elements were designed to enable the maximum floor space. The refurbishment included bespoke fitted storage designed to accommodate the client’s specific requirements.
